“OUCH! That hurts!”
Do you have a nipping nightmare in your household?
Got a puppy that’s transformed into a crazy, snapping demon with razor sharp teeth?
Feeling totally lost and not sure how to tame your gnawing, biting, furry land shark?
In this special episode of the Sexier than a Squirrel podcast, we have solutions for you! We’re going to help you transform your puppy from a biting, chewing, gnawing, nipping nightmare into the furry family member you’ve been dreaming of!
Here’s a sneak peek at just SOME of the super solutions and strategies you’ll find in this episode:
✅ Don’t become a reactive puppy parent – be proactive! Arm yourself with management plans and “If/Then” strategies that you can action to help you prevent your puppy from rehearsing and undesirable behaviours that you DON’T want.
✅ Consider how you DO want your puppy to interact with you, your family, friends, neighbours, other pets, children and more! What do you WANT to see and how can you guide your puppy and teach them behaviours that are incompatible with biting?
✅ Always ensure that your puppy has ample opportunity to experience the RIGHT things. Provide chews, enrichment activities, safe toys, and safe exploration opportunities in the right spaces!
✅ Give your puppy plenty of rest opportunities so they don’t flip over into overtiredness and high arousal!
✅ Always remember that your puppy will be teething. Even if they are losing teeth, those teeth are moving, growing and settling into place in your puppy’s mouth – and they can be experiencing discomfort or pain at any time! Guide them to appropriate behaviours and give them safe, appropriate items to chew on to satisfy their chewing needs and relieve their discomfort!
There’s so much more in this episode, so if you have a puppy or are about to welcome one into your home, you don’t want to miss this episode! If you know anyone who’s about to get a puppy or who is struggling with their new furry family member, this is the podcast episode for them too!
