There are two types of training… 

  1. Training in the Situation – trying to teach your dog in the moment, when they’re behaviour is undesirable and at its height.
  2. Training FOR the situation – preparing your dog for the situation beforehand so they have the skills to handle the situation without rehearsing the behaviour you are looking to stop and for which you are seeking a solution.

It’s important to know what skills you need to work on so that you can prepare yourself and your dog for the situation. Knowing the ingredients so that you can discover your dog’s recipe for behaviour transformation is so, so key.
